Feb 23-25: Dedbeat Weekender
Vauxhall Holiday Park, Caister, Norfolk
Poorly-spelt dance event with three rooms. Live acts include Red Snapper, Hefner, Two Lone Swordsmen and DMX Crew. DJ sets from Aphex Twin, Portishead, Psychonauts and Depth Charge. Plus skate park. Weekend tickets £85, which includes self-catering chalet accomodation and entrance to all facilities.

April 6-8: All Tomorrow"s Parties
Camber Sands, East Sussex
"Alternative" festival, curated by Tortoise. Acts include Boards of Canada, Broadcast, Calexico, Cannibal Ox, EL-P (Company Flow), The Ex, ESG, Femi Anikulapo-Kuti and the Positive Force, Mike Ladd, Savath and Savalis, The Sea and Cake, Sun Ra Arkestra, Yo La Tengo and a specially-reformed Television. Costs a whopping £100 (+£5 booking fee) which does at least include chalet accomodation and access to all facilities, but the minimum booking is four tickets...

May 26: Homelands
Matterley Bowl, Winchester, Hants
Dance all-nighter, including sets by Orbital, Pulp, The Orb, Groove Armarda, Josh Wink, Jacques Lu Cont and the "long-awaited" return of the Stereo MCs. Plus DJ sets from Danny Tenaglia, Brandon Block & Alex P and Adam Freeland among the 121 confirmed acts so far.

This could be more like it: Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Tool, Papa Roach, Hed(PE), Amen, Disturbed, Raging Speedhorn, Mudvayne, Union Underground and Apartment 26 in the great outdoors.
June 16: Fleadh 2001
Finsbury Park, London
Formerly an Irish-themed event, but there's only so many Irish bands worth seeing, so now has a more general, distinctly AOR flavour. Neil Young, Starsailor, Evan Dando, The Waterboys, Billy Bragg, Glenn Tilbrook, Gary Moore, Teenage Fanclub, Cousteau and Aimee Mann are among this year's attractions.
June 23: Creamfields, Dublin
Dublin Punchestown Racecourse
All-day dance event. Traditionally a sell-out. No acts announced yet, but expect top-name DJs and dance-orientated live acts. Ticket prices not announced yet.

Family-friendly, world music, arts and dance. Tickets on sale in March at around £65. No bands yet, but unlikely to feature Slipknot...

Corporate, Virgin-sponsored festival. Very clean. Traditionally musically safe big indie names. Line-ups swap venues.
